Cover Reveal – TRULY MINE & TRULY YOURS by Kennedy Fox

The night we met in the dimly lit bar, she looked like a brunette bombshell, and I wanted to learn her deepest secrets. With sun-kissed skin and soulful bedroom eyes, she was pure temptation, and I was mesmerized.

As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and taunting lips. Resisting her wasn’t an option, and we quickly became a desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest sin, but I was no saint.

Once we caught our breaths, and it became obvious that meeting her wasn’t a coincidence, everything changed. Now I must deny her at all costs.

Friends. It’s all we can ever be.

After years of lying to myself and keeping her at a distance, I want to pull her close. Sophie’s on my mind more than ever as my instincts to protect her take over. Regardless of my attempts to help, she pushes me away and makes it clear she doesn’t need me.

I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, to show her I’m the good guy, but one night takes a tragic turn for the worse when her boyfriend and I start throwing punches.

And ends when I’m arrested for his murder.

I had decided a long time ago that the guy who put a ring on my finger would be one that checked every box on my list.

Looks
Money
Social Standing

Some sexy fireman was not going to change anything. Drunk or not, I knew to keep my feelings locked up tight with men who didn’t meet that standard.

Carter

Taking a prim princess home for the night was a safe bet. She’d wake up to her mistake, realizing I didn’t live in a mansion or sleep on twelve-hundred thread-count sheets. It never failed, she—whoever it was that night— bolted before I’d even had a chance to stretch.

Wham bam, thank you, ma’am. No strings attached.

…Until Brayleigh.

Excerpt

Springing to my feet, I square my shoulders, and meet his gaze head-on. Dark gray storm clouds swirl, uncontrollable. He bites down on the corner of his mouth, kicking one foot up behind him, the sole of his shoe banging against the door.
Standing my ground, I hold his tortured perusal, unwilling to blink first.
“Lila.” He rasps, his eyelids hooded.
“Cade.”
“Why’d you run?”
“I had to go to the bathroom.”
The left side of his mouth twitches and he pushes off the bathroom door, another step closer to me. “No, you didn’t. You couldn’t get out of the room fast enough.”
“You think?”
“It was shitty of me to put you on the spot like that in front of all those people.”
“I told you I don’t want a…thing.” I gesture between us.
“I know. But this thing,” he steps closer, crowding me, “it’s not going anywhere.”
I shuffle back until I’m pressed against the bathroom wall opposite the door. This damn bathroom is suffocating, overflowing with Cade’s presence. Cade’s forearm settles next to my head, boxing me in. His mouth is only inches from mine, his tongue darting out to swipe across his bottom lip.
I groan, my body involuntarily arching toward his. Jesus, what is wrong with me? And what is he thinking? Who could have a proper argument with all of these… distractions?
“I shouldn’t have done that, blown up your spot, tossed all that attention your way. But babe,” he drops his forehead to mine, his breath fluttering over my lips like an invitation I desperately want to RSVP yes to, “I hated that so many people threw shade your way. Every comment I heard pissed me off so much more because it was said about you, not me. And I won’t let any of these people talk shit about you.” He jabs a finger toward the party transpiring outside of the smallest bathroom that ever existed. “And I’m not going to apologize for looking out for you.”
“Cade,” I’m breathless, quivering for him to stop talking and start touching. But I need to be strong, resolute … honest. “I’m leaving in four months. I don’t do –”
“Serious, I know. Me either.” His nose brushes against mine and I shiver. Shiver! “But give me a shot, Lila. I’m not going to wifey you. Just let me take you out, kick it with me, come to my games and rock my number, give it a chance.”
“What if it’s too much?”
His fingers close around my hips, tugging until my belly button is flush against his jeans. Jesus. Need pools within me and as his fingertips grip harder, his body grinding against mine, I whimper, desperate for relief from the wildfire consuming me.
“What if it’s too damn good?” he angles his head lower, his bottom lip ghosting mine. “Let me light you up until we burn out. Babe, I’m not feeding you lines. I want you, Lovely.”

Excerpt:

“Now,” Kyle stated, standing up. “I have some very important business to do.” Bending over, I started stacking the plates to hide my disappointment that he would be working again. Kyle snatched the dishes out of my hands and put them down. He grabbed my hand and began to lead me out of the patio…and into the living room. There, he pressed me flush against the wall to wall windows and stared into my eyes. “June-Bug,” he said, so softly that I thought it was my imagination. “My business is with you.” “As I don’t work with you, I have no business with you.” “I’m afraid that it’s a very serious matter…you will need to make it your business.” “Serious or not, your fetish for bringing business into our bedroom needs to stop.” “Have I told you how cute you look in that dress?” I was wearing the new wrap dress I’d bought from Aurora James, during our New York trip. Decked in stripes of wine red, salmon, periwinkle, and navy blue, it had a cute bodice and a clingy skirt. Feeling sexy in the way the sheer chiffon clung to my figure, I eased away from him and lifted one corner of the belted wrap-around. “See. It’s a marvel of technology.” Readily taking the belt, he tugged at it until the dress fell open. “Open sesame. That is my favorite dress of all.” Seeing my Agent Provocateur nude and sugar pink lingerie embroidered on an invisible net base, Kyle gasped. “Why, a present for me? You shouldn’t have.” With a soft laugh, I dragged his neck closer to me, bringing his lips firmly onto mine. I kissed him with all the pent-up pain and uncertainty of the past week until it flooded with just longing and longing only. My hands went to the back of his neck, sliding up through his hair. I released his mouth and whispered against his ears. “I love you.” He didn’t respond. Instead, he caught my mouth again, his hands slipping off my dress and, seizing my hips, he lifted me up until my legs were laced around his back. Carrying me, he walked around the living room and took me up the stairs, still kissing me somehow. I hissed and leaned back, letting the electricity between us rise and rise until it consumed us, taking us to places we’d traveled before, but could never tire of…

Excerpt

Groaning, I blew a wayward strand of blue hair from my face. Half my hair was falling out of the messy bun – messy meaning it took me thirty minutes to make that shit look cute – the sweaty tendrils plastered themselves against my neck and the side of my face like I’d glued them there. Which totally explained why Barrett gave me a bitchy tongue cluck of derision.
“You had to pick a fight today of all days?”
Of course, I did. If I was going to walk into a room full of Ethereal upper crust and let them look me over like a slab of beef, then I was getting all my rage out now. Really, it was safer for everyone that way.
“What? You don’t think you can make me presentable in the twelve hours we have to get ready? Some fairy godmother you are.”
Barrett’s lips parted to answer me just as I felt a frisson of magic rake across my skin. I wasn’t supposed to be able to feel magic being spent. I wasn’t supposed to be able to see the motes and hexlines or catch the way each spell’s scent differs from the other. I perceived all parts of magic – how it looked, how it smelled, how it felt.
Everything.
The sensation of a wolf jumping to his other form had a very specific composition. It was part moonlight and part the breeze flowing through a thatch of trees. It was wildness and blood and freedom.
And death. Lots and lots of death.

“Hey, Mia Hamm,’’ a deep rumbling voice called from above me.
I turned in the direction of the voice. The handsome man I saw yesterday playing football with his son was calling to me from the second-floor balcony.
“Who?”
“Mia Hamm. The famous soccer player.”
“I know who Mia Hamm is. I’m not her, and you’re in Barbados where we call it football.”
“Well, I don’t know your name. Why don’t you tell me what it is so I know what to call you and then you can tell me where you learned to play football like that.”
“I think you’ll find that most people who grew up in the Caribbean can pass a football with some skill. I’m not special.”
“I don’t know if I agree with that.” He grinned, and I felt myself flush. “And you still haven’t told me your name.”
“Where are your wife and son?” I asked, deciding to nip this little game in the bud.
His brow furrowed in confusion before realization hit.
“What? No. She is not my wife and Philip is not my son.”
Something that felt suspiciously like hope caused my heart to flutter at his words, but he was probably lying.
“That little boy looked exactly like you.”
“Hey, I’m not saying he’s not a good looking kid.” His grin returned, and so did my flush. “He’s just not my kid.”
“Well, his mother seemed interested. Why don’t talk to her about soccer?”
“I’m not interested in his mother.” He gave me a pointed look, his grin still firmly in place.
My stupid heart fluttered again.
“I’m already taken,” he said.
The fluttering stopped.
“But the problem is, she won’t tell me her name.” He tucked his bottom lip between his teeth, still grinning.
And the fluttering returned. A deep breath helped me calm myself and regain focus before I pressed the elevator button again, knowing that it would do nothing to make the elevator come faster.
I glared at him and rolled my eyes. He was leaning over his balcony waiting for an answer.
“No,” I said finally.
“No, what?” he asked.
“Whatever you want. Whatever you think this is. The answer is no.”
“It can be whatever you want it to be.” That line would’ve been incredibly sleazy from anyone else, but he made it sound so sincere and almost convincing that it was clear I needed to keep my distance from him, no matter how charming he was and no matter how long it had been since I felt a man’s hands on my body.
“Good,” I said. Mercifully, the elevator arrived at that moment, and I stepped inside. “Nothing it is.”
