When we were only kids, Sam Harris and I made a promise we’d marry each other if we were still single when we turned thirty. Well, my thirtieth birthday has come and gone and I’m still as single as ever.
And as far as I know, so is Sam.
But it’s been ages since we’ve seen each other, and after what he did to me our senior year of college, I wouldn’t put his ring on my finger even if he begged me to marry him. Never mind his devilish good looks. Or the fact that the playboy partier is a doctor now.
Nope, I’m sticking to my guns with this, and when I go back to my hometown of Silver Ridge for the first time in years, I won’t pay him the slightest bit of attention. Well…until he convinces me to go out for drinks to catch up. I knew it was a bad idea the moment I agreed to it.
And then he brings up our childhood promise.
It might be fun and games to him, but it’s not to me. Because as much as I don’t want to admit it, Sam has always been my first choice. And I don’t want to be nothing more than his backup plan.

Not my first read by the author, and I have read a lot of her books so am familiar with her writing style. That said I have also read the Dawson Series and the hero in here we have met before in that very series. I was excited to see His and Chloe’s story start a new Series!
I want to point out that although I really enjoyed the sexy here in here, Chloe took the cake for me. Something about her being so relatable, sweet, truthful, true to herself no matter how much of a ‘un-cool’ person she may look. And she gave Sam a run for his money and I LOVED it! Even though we met Sam previously this story you get the FULL gist of him, his past and family. Sam and Chloe lost touch after a horrible incident in high school and well, just because she sees him again doesn’t mean she will ever give him the chance to hurt her again. Even if they did make a bet that if they both aren’t married by thirty, they will get married to each other. But so much time has passed, can the old feelings morph into new and for them to move on together? I had a lot of fun reading their story and look forward to more.
