WELCOME

to my SPOTLIGHT 2020! New version of my BOOKSTAGRAMMER SPOTLIGHT I featured in 2019. I decided to bring it back and feature some more amazing people who run in this crazy world of ROMANCE! Please enjoy & show some love to:

PERSONAL

Name:  Priyanka Dhingra

About:  I am 20 year old and I am pursuing my Bachelors of commerce in finance and investment. My hobbies are Dancing and yes, obviously reading. I have one younger sister and I love her (Don’t tell her this). My zodiac sign is Virgo. I not only love reading but writing as well maybe someday I will write my own book.

BOOKSTAGRAM

Logo name? Bed and books

How/Why did you come up with it? Well, my favorite author was Releasing her new book and the only way to read it earlier was when I sign up for the ARC (don’t judge I loved that Author and still do) and afterwards it was no coming back because I came to know soo many new and amazing authors it was like a jackpot. Moreover, I didn’t know there was such a big bookstagram community. It was new and exciting experience for me and I absolutely loved it.

When did you start Bookstagramming? What was the first thing you did? I started bookstagram in june 2019

Did you have any help at the beginning or winged it? Yes, as this was all new for me I didn’t know how to interact with Authors and other bookstagrammers because I am not that good in these kinda things and moreover, most people were elder than me so, I don’t know what and with whom to speak. But still there was this sweet lady who not only helped me but if I have any query she cleared it out. She is amazing.

What is your favorite part you would say and why? My favorite part is when I receive a little bit of appreciation from the authors that I am doing a great work. It  really boost my confidence and makes my day.

What social media’s are you on? And do you have a favorite? I am on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. My favorite one is definitely Instagram.

Have you had any bad/negative experiences on Bookstagram? No, I Don’t have any bad experiences yet. Bookstagram community is very cooperative .  They accept anyone and everyone in the family literally.

Do you think Bookstagram is an effective platform to express your opinion on books? Yes, Bookstagram is definitely a great platform to Express about the honest opinions on books by the people. I mean that’s how an author Came to know how his/her books is performing and the interaction between authors and the bookstagrammers is very easy.

What do you use camera vise when taking book photography? (if you do photography) I have just recently started taking pictures otherwise I used to upload the pictures send by pr team or the author. I use my sister’s phone to click the pictures it’s one plus 6 T

Do you use your own props? Is there a fun or MAGICAL way you set it all up? (loc, props…) I just take a look in my house if I see that this thing I can use as a prop then I use it. It’s not like I have purchased anything from market for specific clicking the pictures. I wouldn’t say fun but for me it is a difficult task as I have to make sure that the picture should be perfect.

LET’S TALK ABOUT BOOKS!

Tell us, do you know the exact amount of paperback you own? How about ebooks? (I suggest not to count because I did & I regretted it) My paperbacks would be around 25 and ebooks around 70

Do you prefer paper or kindle? I prefer kindle more. (You should too. Save trees remember)

Do you know your first paperback/ebook? My first ebook was The mafia and his obsession by lylah james (yes, she was the author due to which I started bookstagram🙊)

Do you remember your very first read? Three men in a boat

What is your current read? Fiesty by Julia kent

What is your least favorite read? Shark’s Rise by Angel Payne and Victoria blue

How many books have you read so far this year? 6

What book are you anticipating most in 2020? I dare you By lylah James

What is it that draws you to a book? (picture, blurb, author..or all?) Definitely author,  if I have read his/her book earlier or if they are best sellers I will read their book. I only try new authors when I like the Blurb and the genre. I am very choosy in these things.

Do you have a favorite genre you read? And why? Mafia romance, Enemies to lovers

What is your favorite part about a story? (the beginning get to know each other, the sexy scenes, the middle right before the peak…) My favorite part is when in the middle the book started to get in action, when the suspense build up.

Now, the real important question -> What is your favorite book & why! The Mafia and his angel (series), Do you dare? By lylah james and Enemies by Tijan

Do you have any magical words for everyone out there?! Just be yourself, love yourself and Be Happy!

That concludes this SPOTLIGHT, hope you enjoyed it and gotten to know you fellow BOOKSTAGRAMMER, I sure have. SHOW THEM some love. Thank you for participating!!

SPOTLIGHT 2020! Featuring: Marija – Hopeless Romance Readaholic

WELCOME

to my SPOTLIGHT 2020! New version of my BOOKSTAGRAMMER SPOTLIGHT I featured in 2019. I decided to bring it back and feature some more amazing people who run in this crazy world of ROMANCE! Please enjoy & show some love to:

PERSONAL

Name: My name is Marija, pronounced like Maria but with a different accent. I feel like I have to say it every time because it sounds very confusing to all of those who’s mother tongue is English.

About: I’m 33 years old but feel much younger. I’m happily married, at least when I’m not PMSing , for 9 years now but we’ve been together for 14 years. We have 3 amazing kids, two daughters and a son. Being a parent is very challenging but oh so rewarding and it’s the best thing in my life and what I’m most grateful for. My family is everything to me. I was born in a small town in Serbia but I’ve lived almost all of my life in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it feels more like home to me. I love drawing, photography and doing makeup or anything that has to do with being creative. I love coffee! I’m a Gemini and I find that traits that describe this Zodiac sign fit almost perfectly with me. My favorite color is aqua and all those colors in range between blue and green.

My bookstagram handle is Hopeless Romance Readaholic. I named it that way because I’m a hopeless romantic and I’m addicted to reading romance so I put everything together. But if I’m being totally honest I’m not in love with it, so I might be changing it into something shorter.
I’m bad with dates, but I think I started like 3-4 years ago. I wanted to share my love for books with people who actually read because I’m not surrounded by them. And I found so many friends from all around the world, some of those friends I got to meet and we chat all the time. And the best part is that our bookstagram community is so amazing and (almost) everyone is so sweet and they always make me smile and feel great. It’s like my safe haven.
I’m mostly on my Instagram account but I also have a Facebook page with same handle. Facebook is like a totally different universe for me where I don’t feel as comfortable as on Instagram. So I only use it if I have to.

My advice for everyone who’s starting or already is a bookstagrammer is that they stay true to themselves. Do not copy anyone, try to find what fits you and what you feel most comfortable with. Always be honest but never mean and rude. Try to use as many props that you already have and don’t spend too much money. It’s amazing what you can find in your home or outside. Don’t use flash photography! Take as many pictures as you can when the light is perfect and store them for times when you’re too busy to take new ones or when the weather is horrible for taking them.
And remember to always do this if it’s fun! You must not feel pressured to do anything you don’t want to. Take a break if you need one and recharge those batteries. It’s amazing what a few days (or more) without social networking can do to you.
P.S. DON’T TAG AUTHORS IF YOU HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT THEIR BOOKS!

I didn’t have any bad experience being a bookstagrammer. Maybe just cold or different treatment from authors who didn’t like my reviews but I learned to be okay with that. It used to bother me but not anymore. That is maybe one of the biggest reasons why I decided to not read ARCs (advanced reader copy), because I always felt so bad if I didn’t like the book.

Being an international bookstagrammer who reads mostly books by American authors can be challenging sometimes because we don’t get the same opportunities like those living in US. But I understand that shipping costs are really high and I really appreciate anyone reaching out. It means a lot.

Bookstagram is definitely one of the most amazing ways to find about book news, find recommendations, find new authors and admire everyone’s creativity. I take my pictures with Nikon camera which I really love. Edit my pictures in PicsArt app and on Instagram editor. My current favorite filter is Retro, but there are a tons of them to fit your theme. I try to use whatever I have in my home as props and if I buy anything it’s usually something I can use for other things, like my trustworthy fluffy white pillows and small rug. My husband bought me a typewriter from thrift shop, which was a bargain, and I use it as a prop too.

I own around 400 paperbacks and I don’t really know how many ebooks, better not to count them.  I love both. I mostly read ebooks, and because of my tendency to buy books without learning anything about them (not even reading blurbs because I’m all into diving in totally blind) I made some huge mistakes and now I decided to buy only paperbacks of my favorite ebooks. That excludes my auto buy authors like Colleen Hoover.
She’s my favorite author and most read one too. Some of her books are my all time favorite books like November 9, Maybe Someday, Slammed, Hopeless, Ugly Love. And every year I re-read some of her books because they still affect me like the first time and sometimes even more.
Some of my other favorite authors are Jewel E. Ann, Kate Stewart, Laura Thalassa.
And I refuse to choose one book as a favorite!

I love New Adult, Young Adult, Paranormal Romance, Sports romance, College/High school romance…I also love to read Fantasy books, especially when there’s romance involved. I’m into angsty and emotional books. Love Alphas but Beta male characters are my weakness. I adore antiheroes!
A fierce and strong heroine is a must for me! If I don’t like the heroine it’s 99% possible I won’t like the book either.
My favorite tropes are enemies to lovers, sibling’s best friend, second chance (which is probably funny since I’m so hard on giving second chances). I don’t like mafia, BDSM, dark romance.

My most anticipated books this year are definitely Famine and Death by Laura Thalassa! I feel in love with her writing reading Pestilence and that was my favorite read of 2019. I’m kinda obsessed with it!
I set my reading goal on Goodreads and I will try to read 100 books in 2020. I failed last year but I wasn’t bummed at all. I mostly use it to track my reads and rate/review them. I also set my mind on reading as many new authors I can this year and I already found two whom I loved, P. Dangelico and Kim Holden! I read 7 books this year (first half of January) and I’m on my 8th. I’m currently reading Dirty Letters by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland. The book which already entered my best book list is without a doubt Bright Side by Kim Holden and even though it’s an ugly cry book, I highly recommend it because it’s a must read. A book with a life lesson and most amazing female character I’ve ever encountered.

So that’s about it. I hope this was fun and I didn’t smother anyone with yapping about myself.  If anyone wants to hang out (virtually) come and stop by on my IG account. Thank you Emina for having me as one of the spotlights. I admire your dedication and your amazing photography skills and I’m so glad we connected through bookstagram.

Be kind everyone and read whatever the hell you want!
Xoxo

BOOKSTAGRAM

Logo name? @amberreadsromance

How/Why did you come up with it? I chose the name amberreadsromance just because I found it to be catchy which it still is. I started it because I saw other romance bloggers posting reviews, cover reveals and title releases and I just wanted something else to do. I also thought I’d find great recommendations if I had my own account.

When did you start Bookstagramming? What was the first thing you did? I opened my IG blogging account on May 31, 2019 right after I finished reading Ilsa Madden-Mills’ book the Boyfriend Bargain which is amazing BTW! It’s one of my absolute favorites.

Did you have any help at the beginning or winged it?  Straight winged it. ☺

What is your favorite part you would say and why? I love finding/discovering new authors to support and finding different romance troupes.

What platforms do you use? (for things like posts on any of the social media’s? Or at least your favorite ones? That means APP’S & SO FORTH) At the moment, I only use PicsArt if I want to post photos and get the border right. I know there are many other apps and such out there so I can’t wait to see what others are using!

What social media’s are you on? And do you have a favorite? Instagram only from a book blogger perspective.

Do you have any tips and tricks about blogging? (if you’re a blogger) I’m still learning the tricks and tips for bloggers so I’d say it’s all a learning experience and just ask questions if you really want to know something. This community has been awesome and I’ve never encountered a negative interaction with someone.

Have you had any bad/negative experiences on Bookstagram?  Not yet! Hoep it stays that way too.

What have you learned from blogging on a public platform like? It’s super fun. I love being an ARC reader for some of my favorite authors! To be able to read a book before the rest of the population is awesome and I’m truly grateful for it. On the other end, it can be stressful at times as I feel like you have to post something at least once a day so if I don’t, that stresses me out a bit lol. I’m probably overthinking it though. It can also be time consuming especially when juggling your real-life obligations LOL. For example, I’m going to school now and at times I know I should be studying but I get sucked into a book that I want or need to finish, so it’s a matter of finding that balance.

Do you have any goals that you haven’t yet been able to get to, concerning your account? Not yet.

What are some highlights or special moments that have happened, concerning your book blogging career? Just seeing some of my favorite authors “like” my posts or even follow me (GAH! ☺). Also, when they quote parts of my review(s) in their editorial reviews! It’s so awesome. It’s like, “Look ma, I made it!” lol. I’m hoping that I’ll make some close friends out of this in the end too.

Do you think Bookstagram is an effective platform to express your opinion on books? I think so as long as people take the time to read about them and not just scroll through.

What do you use camera vise when taking book photography? (if you do photography) N/A

Do you use your own props? Is there a fun or MAGICAL way you set it all up? (loc, props…) N/A

LET’S TALK ABOUT BOOKS!

Tell us, do you know the exact amount of paperback you own? How about ebooks? (I suggest not to count because I did & I regretted it) I actually don’t have many paperback books. Mine are all ebooks because I like to be able to go to my kindle and pick up where I may have left off. I do want to start purchasing more books this year though-it’s one of my blogger goals!

Do you prefer paper or kindle? Kindle.

Do you know your first paperback/ebook? Hopeless – Colleen Hoover (ebook) and I won a copy of Dirty Letters by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward last November so it’s my first paperback to start my collection.

Do you remember your very first read? Nope. I have a mom brain so I barely remember what I did last week. ☺

What is your current read? 3 at the moment:

What is your least favorite read? Hmmm…I can’t say I really have one at the moment.

How many books have you read so far this year? My goal this year is to read 100 books.

What book are you anticipating most in 2020? Only one?? That’s impossible- I have a lot!

What is it that draws you to a book? (picture, blurb, author..or all?) Picture, Blurb, the fact that they are my favorite author, I’ll support them no matter what.

Do you have a favorite genre you read? And why? Contemporary romance is my favorite just because it’s something I can relate to and it’s fresh. I enjoy almost all the different romance troupes as well. I cannot get into historical romance for some reason and I almost wish I could. Maybe I just need to find a good one to start out with.

What is your favorite part about a story? (the beginning get to know each other, the sexy scenes, the middle right before the peak…) Well the sexy scenes for one is at the top of the list lol but I do enjoy seeing how the story unfolds, how the couple meets because that’s romance in a nut shell. You follow the relationship from beginning to the end (hopefully it’s a HEA) and learn things about the characters. Some books really touch you, as they are so realistic and make you feel that deep connection. That’s when you know you have found a gem!

Now, the real important question -> What is your favorite book & why! One of my favorite books is Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. This is the book that started it all for me. It is a book about two people are who broken and come together to work through their issues. They are tested and tempted by anything and everyone. You get romance, chemistry, humor, heartache, and pure passion! If someone were to ask me for a recommendation for their first romance book, I’d suggest this one first.

Do you have any magical words for everyone out there?! Life is too short, so have fun and live in the moment!

From Amber: If anyone is interested in my photography, they can visit: https://www.eyeem.com/u/adsoto

That concludes this SPOTLIGHT, hope you enjoyed it and gotten to know you fellow BOOKSTAGRAMMER, I sure have. SHOW HER some love. Thank you for participating!!

SPOTLIGHT 2020! Featuring: Gretchen!

WELCOME

to my SPOTLIGHT 2020! New version of my BOOKSTAGRAMMER SPOTLIGHT I featured in 2019. I decided to bring it back and feature some more amazing people who run in this crazy world of ROMANCE! Please enjoy & show some love to:

PERSONAL

Name: Gretchen

About:  I grew up in a small town in Iowa with my parents and two younger brothers.  After high school I had one of my favorite jobs to date; working for a small airline.  It was loads of fun, I traveled anywhere and everywhere for free and met some really great people. At the age of 20 I met my now husband on one of those trips and at 21 moved to Southern California with my best friend.  I’ve been married almost 15 years to my wonderful guy and am still enjoying all that is SoCal (and my bestie is married to his friend and lives just a few miles from us!). We have two beautiful children; Eleanor and Grayson.  My love of reading started at a young age. My Oma and Mom were always reading and had full bookshelves I was always going through. I remember finding VC Andrews on Oma’s shelves and being sucked in. My true love of romance started when I found Sandra Brown and Suzanne Brockmann and I devoured everything our library had to offer!

BOOKSTAGRAM

Logo name? @gretareadsromance

How/Why did you come up with it? My name doesn’t shorten well but Greta is one used most often and I read romance.  Not a lot of brain power went into the name just kept it easy.

When did you start Bookstagramming? What was the first thing you did? I owe my bookstagram to Meghan March.  I was chosen as an ARC reader and thought what the hell, let’s give this a try!  That was in July 2019. I got into a monthly photo challenge and it helped to introduce me to others and get started.  I then found PR firms and hope to continue on!

Did you have any help at the beginning or winged it? Just winged it!

What is your favorite part you would say and why? I love all parts of it!  I have absolutely no wish to be a writer but as a reader when I get to help promote I feel like part of the process.  It’s an honor to be given a book before it releases and anything I can do to share how I feel about it is something I enjoy.

What platforms do you use? (for things like posts on any of the social media’s? Or at least your favorite ones? That means APP’S & SO FORTH)  I mainly use Instagram however do have a blog that I post on as well.  My reviews are always posted to Goodreads, Amazon and Bookbub.

What social media’s are you on? And do you have a favorite? Instagram would be my favorite.  I do have a personal facebook but do not use it often.

What have you learned from blogging on a public platform like? Only the advice I was given: do what feels best to you and have fun with it!

Do you have any tips and tricks about blogging? (if you’re a blogger) Not so far.  I’ve reached out to a few people with questions and everyone is very helpful (especially you Emina!).

Have you had any bad/negative experiences on Bookstagram?

Do you have any goals that you haven’t yet been able to get to, concerning your account?

What are some highlights or special moments that have happened, concerning your book blogging career? My biggest highlight is receiving the ARC books, especially ones given by the authors themselves.  Makes a girl feel special!

Do you think Bookstagram is an effective platform to express your opinion on books? Yes!  I have found so many new to me authors and book deals. It is an amazing place!

What do you use camera vise when taking book photography? (if you do photography) Just my phone.

Do you use your own props? Is there a fun or MAGICAL way you set it all up? (loc, props…) This year I started making my own flatlay posts.  Attempting a new color scheme every month – we shall see how it goes but so far I really like it!  It’s fun to find items to use as props and arrange it to hopefully get a photo to support a book.

LET’S TALK ABOUT BOOKS!

Tell us, do you know the exact amount of paperback you own? How about ebooks? (I suggest not to count because I did & I regretted it) That would be scary to count.  Ebooks are the best thing ever but my favorites are owned in paperback as well.

Do you prefer paper or kindle? Kindle, only because it travels better.

Do you know your first paperback/ebook? Had to look this up but my first ebook was Pleasure Unbound: A Demonica Novel by Larissa Ione.

Do you remember your very first read? No idea.

What is your current read? Just started Dying for Rain by B.B. Easton.  20% in and WOW. If you haven’t read this series you must!

What is your least favorite read? I don’t have a specific least favorite but there are a few tropes I avoid and I primarily only read romance.  Really though I’ll give anything a shot.

How many books have you read so far this year? 10

What book are you anticipating most in 2020? There are way too many to list!

What is it that draws you to a book? (picture, blurb, author..or all?) Author (I have a list I would one-click without even knowing what the book is about) for sure.  If I’m just scanning kindle unlimited then a good cover grabs my attention.

Do you have a favorite genre you read? And why? Romance of course and I’m currently hooked on sports romance!

What is your favorite part about a story? (the beginning get to know each other, the sexy scenes, the middle right before the peak…) The part that grips your heart and makes you grab your book or kindle and hold it close to your face as if you can’t devour it fast enough to know what will happen!  Mostly it’s that part where the secret is revealed and hearts are broken and you wonder how it will all be put back together again.

Now, the real important question -> What is your favorite book & why! I could never ever choose just one as it changes all the time but there is one book I’ve read so many times and I really don’t know why.  Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie. It makes me laugh and swoon. Not sure if I read it at a time in my life that just made it stick but I read it at least once a year

Do you have any magical words for everyone out there?! It’s fun – just join in!

That concludes this SPOTLIGHT, hope you enjoyed it and gotten to know you fellow BOOKSTAGRAMMER, I sure have. SHOW HER some love. Thank you for participating!!

BOOKSTAGRAM

Logo name? samsbookstagram__

How/Why did you come up with it? I honestly didn’t know much about bookstagram and this was just something simple. I do want to change it but honestly can’t think of anything.

When did you start Bookstagramming? What was the first thing you did?  I started my bookstagram account in July 2019 because I wanted somewhere,I could fangirl over books and talk books with someone. I have made some amazing bookstagram friends who I hope to meet one day.

Did you have any help at the beginning or winged it? Winged it big time as you could probably tell by my pictures.

What is your favorite part you would say and why? Honestly making friends and being able to talk books. I never realized how many people were involved in the bookstagram community. I love seeing the amazing photos and getting inspiration.

What platforms do you use? (for things like posts on any of the social media’s? Or at least your favorite ones? That means APP’S & SO FORTH) I only use 1 app to brighten up my photos as I have horrible lighting.

What social media’s are you on? And do you have a favorite? I have Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and my personal Instagram.

Do you have any tips and tricks about blogging? (if you’re a blogger) No but I wish I was

Have you had any bad/negative experiences on Bookstagram? Of course. There will always be negative people who want to bring you down but I don’t focus on them.

Do you have any goals that you haven’t yet been able to get to, concerning your account? Finding a theme that works. Im just not happy with my photos.

Do you think Bookstagram is an effective platform to express your opinion on books? Yes, I love being able to review and get opinions from fellow booklovers. It also helps me write reviews.

What do you use camera vise when taking book photography? (if you do photography) Only my phone.

Do you use your own props? Is there a fun or MAGICAL way you set it all up? (loc, props…) I use my own props which are basic, like candles, bookmarks etc.

LET’S TALK ABOUT BOOKS!

Tell us, do you know the exact amount of paperback you own? How about ebooks? (I suggest not to count because I did & I regretted it) I currently own 550 paperback and ebooks around 300.

Do you prefer paper or kindle? I prefer the convenience of a kindle like at night when I’m too lazy and comfortable to turn off the light but I do love holding a paperback.

Do you know your first paperback/ebook? My first paperback was Dirty Bastard by Christina Lauren followed by Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James.

Do you remember your very first read? My very first paperback read was Dirty Bastard by Christina Lauren and my first ebook read was The Deal by Elle Kennedy.

What is your current read? I am about to start Crossing The Line by Kendall Ryan

What is your least favorite read? I can’t think of one.

How many books have you read so far this year? Im on book 8 for the year.

What book are you anticipating most in 2020? Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jiminez and Wild At Heart by K.A. Tucker

What is it that draws you to a book? (picture, blurb, author..or all?) Covers draw me in followed by a blurb. If there is a lot of hype on a book I tend to check that out as well.

Do you have a favorite genre you read? And why? I am a romance reader through and through. I don’t enjoy historical romance at all, its just not my cup of tea. I love reading about love and all the different tropes.

What is your favorite part about a story? (the beginning get to know each other, the sexy scenes, the middle right before the peak…) I love it all. I love a slow burn and I love the sex scenes. I love getting lost in a good romance book.

Now, the real important question -> What is your favorite book & why! Honestly the hardest question ever! I am always tossing between two books. The Deal by Elle Kennedy and Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren. Both such amazing books. I love CLo so much they are my favourite authors. But there is just something about The Deal that always brings it back to being my number 1. It’s a college romance I guess enemies to lovers. Garrett is everything I would want in a boyfriend and Hannah was just an amazing human who suffered something horrific in her past. I will always love this book.

Do you have any magical words for everyone out there?! Don’t compare yourself to some else you see on bookstagram or in life. You are individually great and have your own uniqueness to you.

That concludes this SPOTLIGHT, hope you enjoyed it and gotten to know you fellow BOOKSTAGRAMMER, I sure have. SHOW HER some love. Thank you for participating!!
